![]() Who fiercely want to protect life, accept attachment, and are proactive. Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke, Ezra, Kanan, and Rey all share blue lightsabers. Writers choose specific lightsaber colors for specific characters as a thematic choice- the in-universe explanation is just there to explain why so many characters with common themes and values share a color so often. It's all good.Īs far as canon goes, you're not wrong, but this is one of those legacy things that are just accepted at face-value now. Unless I'm missing something, and I'm fairly confident in myself on this, for now the crystals still gain their colors randomly, with no explanation for this. Only change really is that ONE color was given meaning (and with High Republic, two) - Red being produced by deliberate corruption, and white produced by crystals purged of this corruption.Īside from these two, so far there's no traits, meanings or anything that is associated with lightsaber colors in new canon. In new, current continuity it's not that different either. In no narration that I can remember a character went " Hmm, his lightsaber is blue, so he's a melee fighter, I'll target his will save". However, the most important part, that I will not get tired repeating: At no point, in ANY portrayed lightsaber combat, no duelist had judged their opponent by the color of their lightsaber. Jedi in Lukes order were known to fuse their own synthetic crystals, like Jaina, and these are too can be willed to produce any color creator wishes. ![]() In some cases jedi would deliberately pick a gem that would produce a specific color - one that comes to mind is Corran Horn specifically crafting a silver-bladed lightsaber to emulate his ancestor. Most jedi picked natural crystals and essentially it was a die roll - color was more or less random, and you get what you get. Ultimately, in old continuity, the color of a lightsaber has next to no arcane meaning beyond one that it's creator seeks to imbue it with. None of them get any personalized lightsaber colors, and it's not like you CAN assign absolutely every variation their own color. Oh, there are plenty of jedi specializations - various jedi artificers, battlemasters, archivists, shadows, explorers, etc, etc. I'm not even sure it ever mentions it beyond initial jedi multiclass part of the game.īooks and comics essentially don't acknowledge these character classes at all. In fact, even the game itself does not enforce this in any way. ![]() This piece of trivia comes solely from KOTOR, as a supplement to the game mechanic of d20-esque character classes. It doesn't actually correlate to how jedi are portrayed assembling and relating to their lightsabers in books, comics or movies. God forbid, sometimes even "Purple is the dark side" slips into this. It's almost a universal piece of trivia now that "Blue is Guardian, Yellow is Sentinel and Green is Consular". Now please, put down your keyboards, I know.
